Welcome
We make it easy to get started. Here's everything you need to know about your first visit to Harris Family Dentistry.
Your First Visit
Call us at (304) 485-6241 to schedule your first appointment. We'll ask a few quick questions about your dental history and any concerns you'd like to address.
Plan to arrive 10–15 minutes before your appointment to complete new patient paperwork. Or ask us to email forms in advance so you can fill them out at home.
Dr. Harris will conduct a thorough exam, take digital X-rays, and review your medical and dental history. He'll discuss any findings and answer your questions without rushing.
If any treatment is recommended, Dr. Harris will walk you through your options and priorities. You'll leave with a clear picture of your oral health and a plan that fits your goals.
What to bring
For minors
A parent or legal guardian must accompany patients under 18 for their first visit and to provide consent for treatment. We see children of all ages — even for first visits before age 3.
Dental anxiety
Tell us when you call. Dr. Harris is experienced with anxious patients and will go at whatever pace makes you comfortable. We have entertainment amenities to help you relax during treatment.
Insurance & Payment
We work with most major dental insurance plans as an in-network or out-of-network provider. Call us with your insurance information and we'll explain your benefits before you arrive.
We accept cash, check, and all major credit/debit cards. We also offer payment plan arrangements — ask our front desk team about options that work for your budget.
Our team helps you get the most from your dental benefits. We'll time treatment to make the best use of your annual maximum and coordinate any prior authorizations needed.
Not sure if we accept your insurance? Call us at (304) 485-6241 and we'll check for you — no commitment required.
Common Questions
Plan for approximately 60–90 minutes for your comprehensive new-patient exam, X-rays, and cleaning (if scheduled on the same visit). We'll let you know in advance so you can plan your day.
Absolutely — and we hear this often. There's no judgment here. Many patients come to us after a long gap in care, and we focus on getting your oral health back on track at a pace you're comfortable with.
We ask for at least 48 hours notice when possible so we can offer the slot to another patient. Life happens — just give us a call at (304) 485-6241 as soon as you know, and we'll find another time that works.
We do our best to accommodate dental emergencies on the same day, especially for established patients. Call us first thing in the morning if you're in pain — we'll fit you in as quickly as we can.
Yes — we love working with kids! We recommend a child's first dental visit around age 1, or within 6 months of their first tooth coming in. Our team is patient, encouraging, and knows how to make dental visits fun for little ones.
